They told you…
..that by the end of January TrueCrypt 5.0 would have been online…
After that they shut the Forums down…
After That they postponed the release to February 4th just as soon as we published the first alpha…
It’s February 5th and NO Truecrypt 5.0 is in the air…
Smelling funny, isn’t it?
In the meanwhile you can download OSXCrypt and be happy!

Should give Truecrypt credit it seems you are bashing them. I mean your project is based off of TC. Sure there forums are shut down probably because of a bunch of whiners when they are trying to work. And if there dates are a little off to make there release more stable and it is everything its suppose to be then its ok. Its great that you all have created an alternative though and would like to see where both projects go. TC has been around awhile providing a great product to its users for free. I use it on all my systems. And I use OC on OSX for now. Keep up the great work and try to work together not create enemies/sides.
The schedule date has been changed to february 5th — and from reading in the net it seems usual for them to shut down the forum before a new release. But I second your feeling - “what a difference a day makes, 24 hours …”
Yeah, OK. I am sorry for ever doubting you, but please stop bashing Truecypt. I do not think that it sets a good mood for future (hopefully good) cooperation.
Thanks for putting out OSXCrypt!
Can you publish a roadmap / planned features? That would be great, especially for people who perhaps want to provide a GUI - or are you working on a GUI too?

And five turned into six…
I’ve been waiting for 5.0 since I heard about it coming out months ago - I waited all January, then refreshed on the page a few times on the 4th hoping it would come out then…
Whatever you do TC team, we know you’re doing what’s best ;P
And now the truecrypt.org website is completely down.
Now their site is timeouting… Weren’t they /.-ed recently? Or maybe there is some crowd hidden behind keyboards, pressing F5 fervently?
It’s still the fifth here, and I’ve downloaded TrueCrypt 5.0. Maybe your celebration was premature.
Truecrypt 5.0 doesn’t support hidden volumes on OSX, while osxcrypt seems to handle them just fine. Is it all about the -protect_hidden switch?
Truecrypt 5.0 just came out for OS X. There are several PPC and Intel versions available for Leopard and Tiger. Well worth the wait.
So, what’s going to happen to this project? Do you intend to release more versions of OSXCrypt but with more features than the regular version of truecrypt?
just FYI. Truecrypt 5.0 has been released and sorry but its way better than osxcrypt. it has a gui for one thing. two, you can mount a hidden partition without entering the outer volume password first which is really annoying. and 3. the container is cross platform with windows/osx and linux
First let me thank you for your effort in OSX encryption.
Today truecrypt 5.0 including OSX 10.4/10.5 support was published.
I would love to hear from the osxcrypt.org team what the differences between these 2 packages are aka a technical point of view.
The differences are, that the TrueCrypt is based on MacFUSE and OSXCrypt is based on a kernel-extension.

I’m starting to feel a bit embarassed by all this free bashing. I’ll sync the code with release 5.0 and don’t know if to continue since your (discussible) child-like behaviour, please stop bashing the people who did the tought job in the first place (that guess what? we’re using it!). This seems very unnecessary.
I’d sure be upset if I donated money. OSXCrypt blows compared to TC
Truecrypt 5.0 for leopard intel is up at truecrypt.org, but can’t find the pgp sig for the file. Forum is down there. Any pointers to pgp sig file for this distribution?
Complimenti ancora, ciao! Elf0
I say OSXCrypt has a lot of potential though. It’s supposed to provide Mac users access to dmcrypt, luks, loop-aes and pgp encrypted disks as well as truecrypt volumes.
Osxcrypt is experimental, but it could end up being superior to truecrypt in the future.
In the meantime, stick to truecrypt 5.0 for mission critical stuff you don’t want to accidentally delete.
I hope OSXcrypt adds the ability to encrypt the OS X system partition like truecrypt 5.0 does for windows.
